Miley Cyrus says goodbye to “Hannah Montana”. The musician / actress announced that she will not be renewing her contract after the fourth season. The popular Disney show is about a girl who is a rock star by night and regular old teenager, Miley Cyrus, by day. It’s a comedy series focused on the trouble the pop star gets into as a teenager while trying to keep her secret.Fans wonder how her career will fair and if this is a complete split from Disney - perhaps Cyrus is trying to distance her budding music and acting career from her alter ego. Another starlet who left Disney after the success of her first feature film, “The Lizzie McGuire Movie” (inspired by the scripted series) was Hilary Duff. However, Duff's split from Disney had more to do with money and creative differences.
For fans wondering what this split will mean for Cyrus' career, don't fret according to IMdb she is already working on another movie, “The Last Song” and is in talks to sign on for a tween version of Whitney Houston’s box office hit “The Bodyguard” called “Personal Security” with Hugh Jackman as reported by Variety.
For those already dreading the end of “Hannah Montana” there is a new series premiering next month on the ABC Family network with a similar premise starring Alea Vega (Spy Kids) and David Cassidy called “Ruby and the Rockits”.
